On June 9, 2017 we bid farewell to American graduates of the Fulbright Program in Poland. This year, forty-two U.S. grantees taught English, lectured and conducted research at various universities throughout our country. There were 17 English Teaching Assistants, 8 Scholars, 16 Students and 1 Fulbright Schumann grantee. All of them received commemorative diplomas signed by Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Paul W. Jones, U.S. Ambassador to Poland and Justyna Janiszewska, Executive Director of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. During the ceremony we also handed the commemorative diplomas to the graduates of the EducationUSA mentoring program.
The ceremony took place at Klub Bankowca on Smolna 6 in Warsaw and was conducted by Justyna Janiszewska, Speeches were given by prof. Łukasz Szumowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Paul W. Jones, U.S. Ambassador to Poland. The event was attended by the Board Members of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission, members of the Polish Fulbright Alumni Association and Alumni Association, alumni of the Program, among them the first Polish Fulbright grantee to the U.S., Professor Franciszek Lyra, new cohort of Polish grantees as well as representatives of academia and non-profit organizations.
