Monika Niwelińska is a visual artist. Her fields of interest include photography – photosensitive processes, painting, drawing, graphic arts, installations, site-specific projects and land art. In her creative works she explores the analogies between memory and perception in relation to place and time. She is also interested in topics related to image-entropy-melancholy. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. She also studied philosophy at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and painting at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. She is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards including Fulbright Senior Award (2016-17), “Young Poland” scholarship, City of Krakow scholarship, Kosciuszko Foundation grant, and multiple scholarships granted by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
