Dan O. Hastings joins the Board of Directors of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission

We are pleased to announce that the Ambassador of the United States to Poland, Paul W. Jones, has appointed Dan O. Hastings to the Board of Directors of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission.

Mr. Hastings, who has just started his assignment as Cultural Affairs Officer in Warsaw, joined the Foreign Service in 1999. His previous posting was as Information Officer in Tbilisi where he coordinated communications for 30 US government entities. He served as Deputy Chief of the Political-Economic Section in Yerevan where he also was Director of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. Mr. Hastings served as Public Affairs Officer in Vladivostok and held political, economic, and consular positions in Rabat and Cairo. He also worked in the Office of Children’s Issues in Washington, D.C. A native of California, Mr. Hastings has a B.A. in International Relations from University of California-Davis and an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Between his studies, he served in the Peace Corps as an English teacher. He speaks French, Spanish, Russian, Armenian as well as some Arabic and Georgian. He and his wife have three children.

Mr. Hastings succeeded Mr. Kenneth Wetzel who served as a Board Member for the past three years. We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Wetzel for his selfless service to the Fulbright Program in Poland.
