Maciej Chmieliński joins the Board of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission

Marek Chmieliński Fulbright fotografiaWe are pleased to announce that Prof. Maciej Chmieliński has been appointed a Board Member of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission, effective February 9. Prof. Chmieliński represents the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Maciej Chmieliński, PhD, is a Professor of Law, a member of the Department of Political and Legal Thought and the director of Alexis de Tocqueville Center for Political and Legal Thought at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Łódź. His scientific interests are focused on the legal and political theory of the current democratic society and on the history of ideas. He has authored several works on German and American political and legal philosophy, especially on the social contract theory (John Rawls) and the public choice theory (on James M. Buchanan and David Gauthier). His latest book is titled “The Philosophy of Legal Change. Theoretical Perspectives and Practical Processes” (Routledge, London-New York 2020 – co-editor and co-author).

Prof. Chmieliński succeeded Prof. Marek Konarzewski as a Board Member. Prof. Konarzewski served as a Board Member for three years and we would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude for all the assistance and expertise he provided during his term.
