Polish Fulbright grantees 2016-2017 receive diplomas

The graduation ceremony for Polish Fulbright grantees 2016-17 followed by the Alumni  End of Summer BBQ took place September 14 at Klub Bankowca in Warsaw.

The ceremony was conducted by Justyna Janiszewska, Executive Director of the Polish-U.S Fulbright Commission, and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, U.S. Embassy Warsaw and Board Members of the Commission as well as Polish and U.S. alumni of the Program and other invited guests.

In a short welcome speech, Justyna Janiszewska emphasized the worldwide significance and prestige of the Program, its impact on the development of academic careers of its participants and also highly appreciated the alumni for their tremendous commitment to the promotion and development of the Program in Poland and the USA: The Fulbright scholarship does not end when the diploma is presented. It is a life-time commitment. There are plenty of opportunities for you right now concerning not only your  further professional and personal development but also cooperation with the Commission and the international alumni environment. We thank you very much for your until now commitment and we look forward to support alumni initiatives and our cooperation.

Deputy Minister prof. Łukasz Szumowski  and  Deputy Chief of Mission John C. Law underlined immense significance of the Fulbright Program for the development of science.

Prof. Szumowski  mentioned that: The Fulbright Program is a perfect mechanism supporting the academic and scientific exchange between Poland and the United States. Alumni of the Program have perspectives for fascinating professional career and the unique chance to influence the social life in both countries. A lot of the Fulbright alumni have influenced the dynamic development of our country and the development of Polish science in the last years.

The Fulbright Program is an important element of the United States’ bilateral relationships with countries around the world – said John C. Law, Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy Warsaw. – established 70 years ago it has approximately 370,000 Fulbrighters that have participated in the Program since its inception. The Polish Fulbright program is strongly supported by the U.S Embassy Warsaw and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Fulbright Program is one of the most prestigious awards programs worldwide. There is a lifetime experience ahead of you, the grantees. You will be the best ambassadors of the Program.

Krystyna Malińska, Vice-president of the Top 500 Innovators Association and alumna of the Fulbright Program, mentioned that: The Fulbright scholarship and research at the American university was one of the most valuable experiences of my life. The Fulbright scholarship is a lifetime experience and adventure. As an alumna of the Program, I am delighted to be able to engage with a number of academic initiatives in conjunction with other alumni, particularly those that support young and talented students in their professional development. Undoubtedly, such an initiative is the TopMinds training and mentoring program, which the Fulbright Commission organizes in partnership with the Top 500 Innovators Association. Ms. Malińska encouraged other alumni to be active and organize alumni  initiatives, promote the Fulbright Program, and join the TopMinds program as mentors.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of diplomas and Alumni End of Summer BBQ.
